The "Only Path" Problem
There is a famous road on the island of Maui that is on the 'must do' for tourists. It is called the road to Hana. Hana is a little city on the east side of the island and up until the 1900s was not connected with the more populated west side of the island. Hundreds of years and much manpower later, the road to Hana was completed.

This highway is very winding and narrow and passes over 59 bridges, most of which are only one lane wide. There are 620 curves and not all of the road is paved so it is very rocky and rough at times. Ah, but the beauty that it offers makes it the top activity on the island. There are lush, tropical rain-forests, majestic waterfalls, dramatic ocean views and sacred pools.
There are 2 points that I want to make with this story. 1) There is only ONE way to heaven which is through the substitutionary sacrifice of Jesus Christ (Jn 14:6). Many people will have a problem with this idea because it is too narrow and exclusive. It is important to point out that ALL worldviews are narrow and exclusive. That is how beliefs operate. To accept one belief is to deny the others. It is a logical necessity. Like the Hawaiian road, there is only one way to get there and as much as people would like to scream, shout, complain, and argue about the 'unfairness' of only having one highway to reach the city of Hana, it is what it is. There is no other way. 2) The road to Hana, like the road to heaven, is a narrow and difficult path at times. It is full of perils and challenges, yet offers the most breathtaking moments and most beautiful views. Following Jesus may be difficult, but He is always faithful to refresh and inspire those who are following Him.
