Ask Me Why I am a Christian.

Just to be clear, the intention of the title, "Ask Me Why" is not for people to ask ME questions about Christianity, because certainly I do not have all the answers, but rather to prepare you, dear Christian, to be comfortable answering that question. My desire is that every member of the church will confidently go out into the world inviting people to "Ask Me Why I am a Christian."

If you are looking for ways to simply, but boldly proclaim your Christian faith with confidence and ease, you came to the right place. My name is Cean Henley, Ph.D. and I will be your guide to the world of Christian apologetics in a culturally diverse and progressively changing environment. It is difficult for many of us to talk about faith to others, but it is a matter of life or death if we don't. My desire is to give you a prompting of sorts that you can use in conversations with others. These promptings or 'faith facts' are based on the major arguments for the existence of God and truth claims of Christianity (ontological, cosmological, teleological, Christological, historical, and moral arguments) but are presented in a basic and understandable manner. My desire is that we all grow more and more confident in our faith which will propel us to not fear those potentially awkward spiritual conversations but look for ways to start them! In other words, let's encourage others to ask us why we are Christians!

Doubters

I am confident that all of you have encountered people who have not yet made Jesus Christ their Lord and their Savior. I am also confident that no two people are alike and while one person knows that 'facts' about Christianity but hasn't surrendered, another person is misinformed, and yet another person knows nothing. These people can be difficult...

Rocks Cry Out

One of the most notorious and outspoken atheists of the twentieth century, Anthony Flew, converted to deism for a number of scientific and philosophical reasons. One of the main points of contention he faced and could not adequately explain was the first emergence of life from nonliving matter. Even in his ardent atheist days, he maintained that...

The Oil Spoil

07/22/2019

Currently, we see a number of "essential oil" businesses popping up everywhere. Historically, oil was needed for heat and food. Biblically, oil symbolized the presence of God's Spirit on a person. Oil has always been and will continue to be important on many levels including the fact that it is one of the many obvious design features of...

Did you know that a tear is not just a tear? This morning as I was praying, I was overwhelmed with emotion and compassion and I just started crying. I remembered learning about the differences in tear composition. There are, in fact, three types of tears that the human body produces. 1) Basal tears. These are in constant production...

Arguing Well

07/17/2019

How many of you have heard someone declare, "You can't argue someone into the kingdom?" This is usually followed up by a sermonette of sorts about how Christians are called to 'love' people into the kingdom. As if 'love' somehow excludes the proclamation of truth. Wake up church! Yes, love is huge. We are called to love God and...

There is a famous road on the island of Maui that is on the 'must do' for tourists. It is called the road to Hana. Hana is a little city on the east side of the island and up until the 1900s was not connected with the more populated west side of the island. Hundreds of years and much manpower later, the road to Hana was completed....
